National Gold Medal Award Application
Transparency in Government

The Frankfort Square Park District has represented and served its residents for nearly four decades. Resident input has been the guiding force behind all FSPD actions, from program offerings to construction and improvement of parks and facilities, making the park district a nationally recognized agency.

In 2007, the Frankfort Square Park District was a recipient of the prestigious National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park & Recreation Management. This award program annually selects and honors five agencies from across the nation for exceptional administration in the park and recreation field.

A master plan is a strong component of the Gold Medal Awards Program. Following an exhaustive process of evaluation, the 2013 Master Plan was formulated to provide guidance for future planning. We invite the community to review not only the Gold Medal application and supporting documents, but also information detailing park district operations, creating an environment of transparency to ensure that all residents are well-informed in all areas of their park district.

It is the mission of the Frankfort Square Park District to provide accessible, non-discriminatory recreational services, facilities, and open space in an environmentally conscious, fiscally responsible manner.
