Parks & Facilities Map
The jewel in the crown of our district's park sites, Union Creek was established in 1998, thanks to state grant funding, enabling a 35-acre development of recreational opportunities for park residents.
Six baseball diamonds, two of which are lighted, and a concession stand play host to over 2,500 games annually. This park is home field to the Frankfort Square Baseball League, Frankfort Square Girls Softball, Summit Hill Boy's Baseball, and various community-based travel teams.
Union Creek football/soccer fields come equipped with stadium seating, accommodating 750 spectators, and a full service concession stand. Enjoy Wildcats football games at this location in the fall. The FSPD's soccer program also uses this tremendous facility for the older age children.
The best skate park in the south suburbs offers a tremendous facility, not for the faint of heart, provides 15,000 square feet of excitement for rollerblading and skateboarding. Please review skate park rules which are posted at the park, and are included in this website for your safe use of this facility.
Union Creek Park also boasts two picnic shelters, complete with washrooms and grills. An outdoor fireplace, attached to the 80th Avenue picnic shelter is ideal for warming up after skating and for roasting marshmallows on chilly fall and winter nights. These facilities can be reserved for family picnics and special events.
Be sure to check out the expansive tot-lot located at Union Creek Park. Funding for this wonderful facility was provided by State Representative, Renée Kosel.
In 2005, an IDNR grant enabled the addition of the following components, all in close proximity to the South Suburban Special Recreation Association:
- ADA accessible playground
- Therapeutic garden
- Large and small dog park
- Band shell
- Hockey Rink
Thanks, in part to a grant secured through State Representative, Kevin McCarthy, the ADA accessible playground was expanded in 2007, and musical components were a unique addition to this site.
