2020 College Scholarship Recipients
An absolute highlight of our Park District calendar is the annual awarding of college scholarships to graduating high school seniors that soon will be moving on to college and career. Our list of recipients, in some cases, are remembered by FSPD Board and staff as former preschool students, widget soccer participants, Park District volunteers, or neighbors that have grown up with the District. The Board of Commissioners congratulates the following recipients of the Frankfort Square Park District 2020 College Scholarship awards: Vincent Broenneke, Martin Hoban, Madison Lamphear, Allison Logan, Rachel Meister, David Vargas, Chase Zawilinski, and Audrey Zednick. These awards are normally presented to students during Lincoln-Way East’s Senior Scholarship Night, and although the event, originally scheduled for May 14, was cancelled, LWE did an exceptional job recognizing all college scholarship recipients through social media, posting to their website, and other forums. The FSPD Board and staff wishes all graduates the best of luck as they look forward to their college years ahead!
Dear FSPD Residents,
Per Illinois Executive Order 2020-10, all FSPD playground equipment is closed to public use until further notice. In addition, outdoor exercise equipment, located at Arbor, Community, Lighthouse Pointe, and Brookside Bayou Parks, along with all picnic shelters are currently unavailable, as posted.
Walking, biking, and rollerblading is permitted on paths located throughout the community, and pickleball and tennis courts are open, with strict adherence to State guidelines regarding social distancing and public gathering.
We need to work together to keep our parks clean. We can’t avoid goose or coyote deposits, but the family dog that enjoys our paths is the responsibility of its owner.
I am encouraged by families spending time together, and also by the way in which people are communicating with friends and neighbors by phone, text, or email. A friendly wave from a distance can be a tremendously helpful way to lift one’s spirits.
The Frankfort Square Park District takes the health and safety of its patrons and staff very seriously and is utilizing all of its professional resources, in addition to daily monitoring the following websites, to ensure your District is always operating in the best interest of the community.
