Freedom of Information

In compliance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), the Frankfort Square Park District offers the following information.

The (5 ILCS 140/) Illinois Freedom of Information Act is a state statute that provides the public the right to access government documents and records. The law provides that a person can ask a public body for a copy of its records on a specific subject, and the public body must provide those records, unless there is an exemption in the statute that protects those records from disclosure.

Persons requesting documents from the Frankfort Square Park District under FOIA must make such requests in writing and address it to the Frankfort Square Park District, 7540 W. Braemar Lane, Frankfort, IL  60423 – Attn. FOIA Officer, or via email at info@fspd.org.

FOIA requests submitted by email must clearly describe the requested records in the body of the email. Under state law, the Park District is not required to open attachments or clink hyperlinks to determine the content of a request. Requests submitted only as attachments may require resubmission.

Frankfort Square Park District staff are not required to open or review email attachments or hyperlinks for the purpose of identifying or interpreting a FOIA request. If the request is not reasonably described in the email body, staff shall notify the requester that the submission does not meet statutory requirements and request resubmission.
